We want to talk to mothers who have experienced dissociation during pregnancy, labour/birth, or the postpartum period, as well as healthcare professionals who support mothers experiencing dissociation in the perinatal period.
You are invited to take part in a one-off online Community Conversation to help shape future research on perinatal mental health and dissociation.
Perinatal dissociation can include feeling detached, unreal, foggy, or disconnected from your body, your baby, or what is happening around you during pregnancy, birth, or after birth.
Your perspectives can help us:
- Identify what may be missing from current research plans
- Ensure we focus on the most important questions
- Approach this topic safely and sensitively
- Better involve mothers and clinicians in research.
Not Sure If This Applies to You?
This study is for people whose dissociative experiences happened during pregnancy, labour/birth, or the postpartum period.
These experiences may include:
- Feeling like the world around you is unreal, blurry, or dream-like during pregnancy, during birth, or after birth
- Feeling detached from your body or as though you are watching yourself from outside
- Having gaps in memory for labour, birth, or around the time of birth
- ‘Zoning out’, ‘shutting down’, or going into autopilot during labour, birth, or early postpartum
- Feeling emotionally numb or disconnected from what is happening in the moment.
If this sounds familiar, we encourage you to express interest using the form below.
The Community Conversation will take place between 1pm-3pm (AWST) on Thursday 23 July. You will be reimbursed for your time.
