Embrace Co-Director appointed AusPATH President

Embrace Co-Director Ashleigh Lin has been appointed President of the Australian Professional Association for Trans Health (AusPATH).

Embrace Co-Director Professor Ashleigh Lin has been appointed as the President of the Australian Professional Association for Trans Health (AusPATH).

After joining The Kids Research Institute Australia in 2014, Professor Lin became an inaugural Co-Director when Embrace first launched in 2019.

Her research focus is on the early detection and intervention for mental health concerns in adolescents and young adults, particularly within marginalised groups.

“It’s a privilege to be appointed to this position and be able to continue our important work at AusPATH,” said Professor Lin.

AusPATH as an organisation has been growing rapidly over the last two years. This speaks to the increasing number of health providers engaging with trans people of all ages and wanting to provide evidence-based gender-affirming care to the community members.

AusPATH is the nation’s leading body for professionals involved in the health and wellbeing of binary and non-binary trans people.

The organisation’s biennial conference will be hosted in Melbourne in November, in collaboration with the Professional Association of Transgender Health Aotearoa (PATHA).

Professor Lin also serves as President-elect of the Society for Mental Health Research, is a board member of Youth Focus and has sat on a number of WA suicide prevention advisory groups and committees.

Professor Ashleigh Lin, an Embrace Co-Director, was recently appointed as AusPATH president.
