Final episode of Embracing the Mind's first season

Embracing the Mind host Dr Alix Woolard.

The final episode of Embracing the Mind’s first season has been released.

In the Embrace @ The Kids Research Institute Australia podcast, host Dr Alix Woolard, a senior researcher in the childhood trauma team, has been joined by early career researchers and guests with lived experience to discuss different mental health journeys.

Episodes have centred on why we need to make healthcare and research more culturally sensitive, the lasting legacy of COVID lockdowns on our mental health, and how to overcome self-stigma.

In the final episode of the season, Alix discusses the impact of social media on our body image with Dr Amy Malcolm from Swinburne University, and the treatments used by our guest Stacey Anderson to deal with body dysmorphic disorder.

“It’s been so rewarding being able to share the stories of people who have overcome obstacles in their life and continue to do inspiring things to take care of themselves,” Dr Alix Woolard said.

Being vulnerable can be one of the most challenging things we face and I’m thankful to our guests for sharing their journeys with me.

We will release a bonus episode over the coming months before season two of Embracing the Mind returns in late 2023.

Embrace is supported by its principal partner, Rio Tinto.
