Embrace @ The Kids Research Institute Australia senior researcher into childhood trauma Dr Alix Woolard recently opened up to TEDxYouth @ Kings Park about her 'incredibly rewarding' journey into research after overcoming trauma of her own.
Alix also shared the all-encompassing impacts that unhealed trauma can have on a person's life, from the stigma around seeking help to the way it changes how your brain works.
But what about when trauma actually has a beneficial impact on you?
Alix then discussed post-traumatic growth, when an experience of trauma can change you in a positive way, and the factors that make someone more likely to experience this growth.
